Applied Net is the premier conference for insurance professionals using Applied Systems’ technology. The 2018 conference, to be held in Nashville on October 15–18, is expectingits biggest audience yet with nearly 4,000 attendees! This widespread growth is a testament to the power and benefit of Applied Systems users coming together to improve the business of insurance.
The 2018 theme of the “Digital Age of Insurance” could not be more relevant. As technology becomes a core element of the business, agencies are left wondering how to stay on the cutting edge and provide omnichannel solutions for digital and traditional consumers.
The Applied Net conference allows Applied Client Network members, insurance professionals, vendors and Applied Systems leaders to come together and connect in person on the software that impacts all of their practices. Check out what our members had to say when asked what they most look forward to.
Gaining Knowledge Through Education
Applied Net offers 200+ education sessions taught by peers, subject-matter experts and industry leaders. Applied Client Network members enjoy the ability to learn from technical, relevant and timely sessions that aid them in the day-to-day use of their Applied Systems software, as well as a more holistic overviews focused on improving insurance operations. Deb Woolcock, office manager at Franklin Insurance Agency, Inc. said, “The educational sessions are top notch and I always come away with so many new tips, tricks and ideas.”
This year’s “Applied Epic — New Features and Functionality, and Where Should Interface Go?” session in particular, has many excited about the conference, with representatives across many agencies looking forward to learning.
“It is always exciting to hear the new features and find out how Applied wants to make itself better than the competition,” said Collin Passman, IT coordinator at The Signature B&B Companies.
In the session, Applied Epic users will be able to learn about the latest product enhancements and additional features that will drive growth and efficiency at their agency or brokerage. As noted by Lisa Heintzberger, client service manager at Healy Group: “What's not great about improving an already great system?”

Furthering Team Development
Many attend Applied Net to bond as a team and learn more about specific projects they are working on in their office. The conference is certainly valuable for veteran users of Applied Systems technology, but having new employees attend is a great way to introduce them to the product and industry.
Applied Client Network board member Theresa Clayton, CISR, is the vice president of human resources and director of agency operations at RiskSOURCE Clark-Theders. She said, “Having gone live on EPIC in May of this year, there are five of us from our office coming. I am excited for three new associates to attend their first Applied Net! I can’t wait to take classes on accounting and Tips and Techniques to answer some questions and learn some valuable tips!”
Participating in the Applied Systems Community
Many members brought up the networking opportunities at Applied Net. With a conference of this magnitude, there is a wide variety of people to get to know. “Networking is my favorite part of Applied Net — it’s amazing how much you learn from talking to your fellow agents, consultants, vendors and ‘Applied people’,” noted Sherry Burrell, CPCU, AAI, president at Grimes Insurance Agency. Added Woolcock, “I have met so many people over the past 11 conferences I have been to that I can now call friends.”
Not only is it great to see previous connections from years past at Applied Net, but it’s also impactful to consider the benefits of asking questions to those who have faced and overcome similar challenges. “The network by far is the biggest benefit of attending Applied Net. Exchanging ideas and learning from those who have been in my shoes… There is nothing more valuable,” noted Clayton.
Our members’ final words of advice? Don’t forget to make note of what you learned and bring it home with you! Heintzberger noted, “I am looking forward to networking with other Benefits users to see how similar and different we utilize Applied and bringing some new ideas back to work.”
